In 1976, Celtic FC requested that supporters clubs stop using the names of Public Houses in their titles.
Our club, the famous Glenties CSC from the Gorbals, took the opportunity to honour its own "Local Hero" and the James Stokes V.C. CSC came into being.

Members of the club, who had grown up with James Stokes, were proud to commemorate his gallantry, for which he paid the ultimate price.
Private J. Stokes V.C. has been the subject of articles in national publications and the story of his actions on the 1st March 1945 is given pride of place on this page.

For the last 4, and best, years in our 24 year history, we have made our home in the Brazen Head, the best Celtic pub in Scotland.
Our previous venues, The Clelland, Derry Traynors, The Crown Bar, The Club Bar, The Govanhill Bar and The Blarney Stone have all fallen victim to the demolisher's hammer in the regeneration of the Gorbals.

Our flourishing club organises coaches for our members to attend every Celtic FC game in Britain and to as many European games as is possible.
We are proud of our club and of our football team.
